A know-how, fruit of a long experience
The company, CAYLA, is first of all an established team
which has formed over the years with solid skills in a wide range of areas
of biology related to production laboratories.Microbiology and genetics The selection and improvement of microbial strains are major pursuits of the company. Researchers at CAYLA have optimized rapid and efficient screening techniques, which have allowed the construction of a collection of more than 10 000 microbial strains containing principally Actinomycetes. The aim of the optimizing these strains is to direct the metabolism of these microorganisms towards the production of substances of industrial interest, or with aim of optimizing their productivity, and to use traditional methods of mutagen selection complementary to molecular genetics. Fermentation Technology Fermentation is at the heart of CAYLA's activities. Performing and planning the optimization of physiological parameters and culture media to allow quick and optimal growth conditions for the microorganisms of interest. Organisms as diverse as Actinomycetes, lactic bacteria, yeast, fungi or Escherichia coli are used in this company. Separation Techniques The use of the continuous centrifugation technique has progressively been replaced by tangential filtration techniques, which is more resolving and allows clear permeates to be obtained. The mastery of these procedures has allowed CAYLA to develop a new laboratory, with industrial laboratory potential, offering microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and inverse osmosis. Purification of biomolecules The purification of biomolecules was the logical next step following work on Actinomycetes carried out by scientists at CAYLA investigating new antibiotics as selection tools for genetics. The experience acquired by CAYLA over the years allows us to optimize the purification of new antibiotics, and also membrane components from diverse bacteria, as well as proteins of interest. Lyophilization CAYLA works carefully to supply reliable and quality products. The techniques for lyophilization enable CAYLA to guarantee the optimized shelf-life for our products, in addition to ease of use. Packaging To obtain high quality and purity of products, CAYLA invested early in work and packaging zones in controlled atmospheres. Thus, the production of DNA, active ingredients for cosmetology or the formulation of ready-to-use medium FastMedia, are carried out within these zones that are regulated and controlled in terms of particulate pollution (class 100 - ISO 5), temperature, hygrometry and the control of air pressure. |
