A know-how, fruit of a long experience
The company, CAYLA, is first of all an established team
which has formed over the years with solid skills in a wide range of areas
of biology related to production laboratories.Fermentation Technology Fermentation is at the heart of CAYLA's activities. Performing and planning the optimization of physiological parameters and culture media to allow quick and optimal growth conditions for the microorganisms of interest. Organisms as diverse as Actinomycetes, lactic bacteria, yeast, fungi or Escherichia coli are used in this company. Production of monoclonal antibodies Cayla has developed expertise in obtaining original monoclonal antibodies directed against cellular receptors. These antibodies are produced using bioreactors dedicated to the production of recombinant proteins in mammalian cells. Separation Techniques The use of the continuous centrifugation technique has progressively been replaced by tangential filtration techniques, which is more resolving and allows clear permeates to be obtained. The mastery of these procedures has allowed CAYLA to develop a new laboratory, with industrial laboratory potential, offering microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and inverse osmosis. Purification of biomolecules The purification of biomolecules was the logical next step following work on Actinomycetes carried out by scientists at CAYLA investigating new antibiotics as selection tools for genetics. The experience acquired by CAYLA over the years allows us to optimize the purification of new antibiotics, and also membrane components from diverse bacteria, as well as recombinant proteins (notably antibodies) obtained from mammalian cell cultures. High levels of purity can be attained through the use of different chromatography techniques (ion exchange, affinity, gel filtration…). Lyophilization CAYLA works carefully to supply reliable and quality products. The techniques for lyophilization enable CAYLA to guarantee the optimized shelf-life for our products, in addition to ease of use. Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory A medicinal chemistry laboratory was created at Cayla in 2005. The primary objective is to produce a library of ligands for the InvivoGen catalog. Medicinal chemistry is also essential for the development of new therapeutic agents. Our organic chemistry specialists at Cayla have the task of designing, synthesizing and developing new molecules in our drug discovery projects, as part of our dynamic multi-disciplinary environment, in order to better understand the roles of selected biological targets. In addition to the traditional techniques, the chemists use methods of synthesis employing solid supports allowing the rapid synthesis and evaluation of a number of important chemical analogs. They have highly specialized equipment that allows them to use the most recent research methods: nuclear magnetic resonance, high performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, Zetasizer. Therefore, they can determine the chemical composition, the degree of purity and the physicochemical properties of the most promising molecules. Packaging To obtain high quality and purity of products, CAYLA invested early in work and packaging zones in controlled atmospheres. Thus, the production of DNA, active ingredients for cosmetology or the formulation of ready-to-use medium FastMedia, are carried out within these zones that are regulated and controlled in terms of particulate pollution (class 100 - ISO 5), temperature, hygrometry and the control of air pressure. |
